2024 Midwest Dahlia Conference Show, hosted by the Elkhart Dahlia Society
Exhibitors of all experience levels are welcome!
Enter your blooms in the show and compete with other dahlia gardeners of a similar experience level and garden size. Prizes will include cash awards and Dahlia Medals. Since this is a conference show, registration is required and a fee to cover meal costs. Download the registration form below.

Weekend Schedule
Sep 13, Friday - Setup begins at 3pm, and Staging
Sep 14, Saturday - Staging, Judging, lunch, Show opens to public at noon, evening Awards Banquet
Sep 15, Sunday - open to public, bloom give-away at 1:00 (bring your own container)

Exciting changes for the CHALLENGE CLASS
- Always a feature at a Midwest Show is the Best 3 Bloom Entry of a Midwest origination. New this year is the addition of Best single bloom entry of a Midwest origination.
- Also new is The Vigor Challenge. This style of championship is popular in Australia and the UK, so Warren Vigor is introducing it to add some extra fun from his homeland. It is 12 blooms to be staged as follows:
3 blooms over 6 inches staged singly. They can be AA, A or B sized.
3 vases of 3 blooms under 6 inches. Each vase of 3 is to be one variety.
In all it will be 6 vases and 12 blooms. Winners will be the highest scoring entries as determined by a score sheet. It should be a spectacular display for the show!
- A returning favorite from the Elkhart Dahlia Society is the Best “Blue” Dahlia. You create a blue dahlia. Rules don’t apply. Past entries have included dyed dahlias, spray painted ones, crocheted, and quilted dahlias. Winner is selected by People’s Choice voting.
- A very special addition to the Challenge Class is for the Best Evangelista Introduction, to honor the life of Tony Evangelista, a true champion of the Dahlia.
- An unusual new addition is for the Best Lavender Waterlily. We hope to have some available at the June 1st auction. Help us find the best lavender waterlily out there.
- Other dahlias that have Challenge Class prizes are Bristol Fleck, Carl, Islander, Kelvin Floodlight, Manor Jayne, Manor Jubilee, Marcella Louise, an Oldoc Introduction, and a Formal Decorative Light Blend BB (ADS classification 3010).
- Just added: Jojo's Morphette!
Challange Class Awards
Challenge blooms must be entered in Section 9 to compete for these awards. First place, second place, third place, and honorable mentions may be awarded in each challenge class.

At Elkhart Dahlia Society, we've been passionate about flowers for over 60 years. We realize most people grow them for their personal enjoyment of the dahlia's beauty, and have no desire to enter them in competitions. If you would like to be part of the show, without competing, please consider becoming a volunteer. Many hands are needed to put on a Dahlia Show.
